After Facebook and Instagram copied many of its hits, Snapchat launched a playful Pokémon portrait filter with Niantic and is watching early reactions.

Facebook and Instagram have copied Snapchat’s popular features one after another, so the company needed another moment in the spotlight. It got one with a new, playful filter.

The Pokémon portrait feature is fun, even if it is not wildly original, and it is available to users from today. Early reactions look positive for Snapchat.

Snapchat rolled the filter out in partnership with Pokémon maker Niantic.
