Rinspeed, the Swiss shop known for pushing vehicle design and technology, regularly debuts concepts near its home base at the Geneva Motor Show. For 2017 it will unveil its new concept at CES in Las Vegas instead. A few press images are already out.
Named Oasis, the vehicle sketches Rinspeed’s idea of an autonomous urban car. The two-seat electric machine looks like a glass box with brightly colored wheel housings. It is meant for sharing: passengers by day, light commercial deliveries when needed.
Not every detail is public, but Rinspeed highlighted a few flourishes, including an R2-D2 inspired companion robot vibe for onboard help, modular interiors, and a footprint tuned for dense cities rather than highway cruising.
Like most Rinspeed show cars, Oasis is less a production promise than a conversation starter about how shared, self-driving pods might reclaim street space.
