After four years with a dying pack, a Romoss Sailing 6 20800 mAh unit with Samsung cells becomes the travel charger of choice.

Portable power banks are everywhere lately. After my four-year unit died I decided to buy a new one. I travel a lot and carrying two phones plus a tablet is hard enough without charging them. Romoss solved that for me. Reviews said buyers did not regret the brand, and digging into products and prices turned up solid numbers: Samsung cells inside, friendly pricing outside.

I picked the 20800 mAh Romoss Sailing 6 (basically a car battery in your bag). Gallery shots are below; quick specs: Samsung Li-ion cell, one input, two outputs (1A and 2.4A), power button, and a charge LED. Those outputs mean tablets and phones; with the right adapter you might even top up a MacBook Air. Size about 16 x 8 x 2.3 cm by hand measure, weight 452 g on the box. It is heavy; you will not pocket it in a jacket. At 20800 mAh that is fair. Rough full-charge counts:

iPhone 6 Plus: 5
iPhone 6: 8
iPhone 5S: 10
iPhone 5: 11
iPad Air 2: 2
Samsung Galaxy S5: 5
Samsung Galaxy S4: 5
Samsung Note 4: 3.5
Samsung Note 3: 4.5
LG G3: 5
HTC One M8: 5.5

How I got those: Romoss leaves a reserve so the pack never drains fully. Even if the LED does not show it, multiply rated mAh by 0.68. For Sailing 6: 20,800 x 0.68 = 14,144 mAh usable. Divide by your device battery for a rough count.

I bought mine from Webdenal.com for 147 TL because I could not wait. If you can wait, the Romoss Sense 6 (20000 mAh) often lands around $45 with free shipping on eBay.
