YouTube’s best-known stars can earn millions a year, yet YouTube is no longer the only address. Facebook is pushing harder into video, and Instagram and Snapchat have become serious alternatives for creators and brands.
On Instagram, which started taking ads more widely last year, sponsored posts roughly doubled from about 200,000 to 400,000 a month over the past year.
Data The Economist compiled from Captiv8 compares earning potential across popular networks. YouTube remains the highest-paying platform; Snapchat has caught up with Instagram. Looking at follower bands, creators with more than 7 million YouTube subscribers still command the biggest checks, while mid-tier influencers can make meaningful money on Instagram and Snapchat sponsored stories without a full production studio.
For brands, the takeaway is simple: pick the network where your audience already watches, and price talent against realistic engagement, not vanity follower counts alone.
